The Band has had many proud and enjoyable moments in
its 32 year history, and they continue to come. Since its formation in 1977 the band have performed many concerts each year and continue to do so. These range from the Bands in the Parks
season, to the popular Christmas Brass concert and overseas visits. The band regularly take part in joint concerts with
local choirs, and also has an increasingly popular 10 piece group
who are available on request.
Contesting is also important in the life of the band, from Easingwold March contest, to the Yorkshire
regional championships. Currently in the Second section, we represented Yorkshire in the national finals at Harrogate earlier this year where we cam 4th in the country (second section). From these good results, the band will return to the first section in the new year.
One of the unique things about the band is its very close
relationship with the town of Alfeld in central Germany. Through the efforts of our long serving band secretary Roy Busby, and Herr
Willie Flick in Alfeld, the link was forged in the 1980's and remains
close to this day, with the band touring every other year and look forward to regularly visiting.
The band often performs at high profile events, including a
Christmas eve Carol performance on BBC "Look North", Yorkshire
and Humberside's regional news programme. Several recordings have also been made,
including two Cd's in the last 3 years.
Plans are afoot for further recordings, and Germany tours and WMBB is looking forward
to the future!
